Larry Don Clements, 77, of Greenville, passed in his home on February 8, 2024, after years of his battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Larry was born on September 27, 1946, to Margaret “Mickey” Elizabeth and Johnnie Dallas Clements in Eastland, Texas.
After meeting and marrying Iris, Larry Joined the Navy during the Vietnam War while he was attending college. He was trained to work as an aeronautical mechanic and worked on Grumman S2F anti-submarine hunter-seekers. Larry was so good he remained in his initial mechanic’s pool. His commanding officer’s comment when it was time to separate from the Navy was to sheepishly say his pilots demanded Larry’s presence. Larry’s expertise made him one of the best mechanics in their plane’s mechanic pool and the commander exclaimed that whatever his pilots wanted, they got. After his separation from the Navy, Larry and Iris resettled back in Arlington, Texas with their two young sons, and Larry went to college at the University of Texas at Arlington. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in math, and around the same time he and Iris had their third child. The family resettled in Greenville, Texas as he began his career with E-Systems. Larry spent the rest of his professional career of over forty years working for a variety of prestigious companies such as E-Systems, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and contracted with many others. As a father and grandfather, he never missed an opportunity to make sure every one of his children and grandchildren knew that they were loved, and he was proud of them all.
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Iris M. Clements; children: Larry Dean Clements and wife Evonne, Jeremy Lee Clements, Carrie Dawn Clements; grandchildren: Morgan, Christopher, Steven, Daniel, Kaylei, Gwyen; and brothers: Joe Clements, Robert Clements, and Wesley Clements.
