Bobby Lee was born on December 5, 1941, in Payne Springs, Texas to the late Mr. Benjamin Franklin Attaway and Ocie Lee Fuller Attaway. He was raised in Winnsboro and Leesburg. He married the love of his life, Miss Shelia Mae Rogers on November 26, 1960. Bobby Lee had an incredible talent for woodworking and landscaping. In 1963, he opened Bobby Attaway Construction and blessed others with his talents for 42 years until his retirement in 2005. He was very proud of his natural skills and created wonderful doghouses, birdhouses, decks, and fences. His talent for ‘turning soil’ was reflected in some of the beautiful landscapes and fencing of South Fork Ranch and the best sweet cantaloupe and watermelon from his own garden. He attended New Hope Baptist Church and gave his life to the Lord on March 2, 2008. Bobby was a humble man of God. He was soft-spoken, gentle, and full of wisdom. He was wealthy because he appreciated the simple things in life. He was an avid supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous for 20 years and provided strength and guidance for those in need. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed ‘kicking’ his team to victory from his La-Z-Boy recliner. Regardless of how busy Bobby was, he always had time to add to his barbed wire and pocketknife collections. Bobby found contentment in living a simple life on earth. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of gratitude and love in the hearts he touched.
Bobby Lee is survived by his son, Bobby Attaway Jr. and wife Cheryl of Idabel, Oklahoma; daughters, Sherrye Burg of Quinlan; sister, Talma Bennett of Winnsboro; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Rose, Rebecca LaRue, Ashley Attaway, Garrett Attaway, Christopher Burg, Lisa Melton, Texas Cowart, Julie Foster, Kristy LaRue, and Dwayne Cowart Jr., 22 great-grandchildren, Eli, Garrett, Courtney, Clayton, Chloe, Page, Hunter, Hadley, Garrett Jr., Gavin, Landon, Ryan, Evan, Dean, Billie Jean, Brynlynn, Wade, Jaden, Ely, Bailey, Katie, and Rick; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
