Donna Abraham Stainback, 88, of Greenville, TX passed away in her sleep Monday, March 11, 2025. Texas. Her memorial service will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville, TX. A time of visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Coker-Mathew’s Funeral Home.
Donna was born to Tom and Helen Abraham on September 18, 1936, in Canadian, Texas. After graduating from Canadian High school, she went on to attend Texas Tech University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary education.
It was at Texas Tech that she met her future husband, Raiford H. Stainback, Jr. and they were married on June 6, 1958. Less than a year later Donna and Raiford welcomed twins,
Kent and Kari on Easter Sunday. With that she began her lifelong, most joyful role as wife and mother. Tim was born five years later and then the family ”surprise”, Lacy arrived seven years after that.
The family moved to Greenville, Texas in 1959, as Raiford took over his uncle’s propane business, Greenville Automatic Gas Company. Donna made many friends over the years as a vital part of the Greenville community. Donna and Raiford were among the founders of Greenville Christian School and generously gave of themselves to the school since its inception in 1976.
Donna was an avid Bridge player and loved playing dominos with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, especially Lebanese food which was her heritage.
Donna brought a smile and a joy everywhere she went which came from her whole hearted commitment to following Jesus in all her ways. With that love for the Lord, she learned to study God’s Word and did it diligently. She served as a Bible Study Fellowship small group leader for 15 years and then a core leader of Community Bible Study for nearly 20 years. She loved telling stories of God’s faithfulness and praying persistently for her family and friends. Donna’s life pointed us all to the love of Christ Jesus.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Raiford Stainback. She is survived by her four children, Kent Stainback (Amy Stainback), Kari Stainback, Tim Stainback (Stacey Stainback) and Lacy Feezel (Kelly Feezel). She has 11 grandchildren, Anna May (Will May), Abby Cook (Keenan Cook), Ford Stainback (Jessy Stainback), Luke Stainback, Kari Beth Wiebe (AJ Wiebe), Caroline Feezel, Sadie Feezel, Wilson Feezel, Maggie Feezel, Timothy Stainback, and Daniel Stainback. And 11 great grandchildren, Michael May, Charlie May, Molly May, Bo Cook, Cassie Cook, Jack Cook, Cal Stainback, Haley Stainback, Annie Stainback, Drew Wiebe and Emmy Beth Weibe. She is also survived by her brother Ken Abraham of Lubbock, Texas and Kay Abraham Brown of Canadian, Texas.
What a gift to have a godly friend, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who prayed diligently for each of us. We will miss her greatly. Yet, we find such comfort that her suffering is over as she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus. ”My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
