Barbara Ann Bench, 88, of Greenville, Texas, passed on April 13, 2025. She was born December 8, 1936, in Hickory Hills, Texas, to Conard and Nora (Freeman) Miller.
Barbara spent her career as a dedicated supervisor at Travelers Insurance, where she was respected for her hard work and leadership. Outside of work, she embraced life with enthusiasm and a love for simple joys. She was an avid fan of “junkin’,” enjoying every moment spent at estate sales, garage sales, and exploring hidden treasures. Music was dear to her heart, especially attending “singings,” performances by Philip and Vonda Farmer, evenings at the Caddo Opry and monthly singing of the Crossroads band at the Salvation Army.
A true people person, Barbara loved her family deeply and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warm spirit and open heart welcomed everyone. She found peace in the outdoors, often watching and feeding birds and squirrels from her patio.
Barbara is survived by her loving children: son Terry Bench and wife Dana, and daughter Carolyn Sue Riddle; her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Ragsdale and husband Jason, and Ashley Bench; and great-grandchildren: David Abbott and Kaden Denton. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many lifelong friends, including her dearest companions Jane Wolfe and Margie Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Conard and Nora (Freeman) Miller; her beloved husband, JC “Buddy” Bench; and her siblings: Carl Miller, Wayne Miller, Teddy Miller, Bobbie Nelson, Carlos Moore, and Waylon Miller.
A graveside service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
Barbara’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in all who knew and loved her.
