Tommy L. Green, 84, entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 16, 2019, at his home in Campbell. Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Baptist in Campbell under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. James Ralson and Steve Ford will officiate. Burial is at Prairie Valley Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 20 at the funeral home.
Tom was born on August 28, 1935 in Campbell, Texas to Jessie Rae McDowell and Delbert Green. He married Martha Caldwell on June 12, 1954 in Greenville, Texas. He graduated from Campbell High School in May 1953. He attended church regularly as a small boy and was baptized at the age of 17 at Plainview Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon and an active member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Campbell.
Tom served in the National Guards for eight years. Upon completion of his service, he began working as an electrician for Temco, (later E-Systems) in 1956. Due to his dedication, integrity and hard work, he was soon promoted to various supervisory roles. He retired in 1995 after thirty-five years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed camping, working in his yard and spending time with family.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Martha Green of Campbell, his daughter, Anita Young and husband Michael of Arp , his son, Rodney Green and wife Sherry of Campbell; 5 grandchildren, Roxanna Briley and husband Ben of Jacksonville, Renea Powell and husband Jeremy of Greenville, Rustin Green and wife Linda of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Tana Green of Campbell, and Samantha Green of Campbell; 11great-grandchildren, Arian Alford of Greenville, Press Alford and wife Sadie of Oahu, Hawaii, William Powell of Austin, RyLee Powell of Greenville, Coty and Conner Martin of Jacksonville, Lorelei, Adeline and Elias Green of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Radley and Ryker Green of Campbell, and 1 great-great-grandson, Greyson Alford of Oahu, Hawaii. He is also survived by his sister, Dortha Green of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Perry Green.
Pallbearers are Rustin Green, Jeremy Powell, William Powell, Press Alford, Landon May, and Ben Briley. Honorary Pallbearers are Frankie Morris, Johnny Stovall, Don Etheridge, Rickey Conner, Jimmy Babb, and Wayne Jones.
Special thanks to Vitas Hospice for their supportive care during Tom’s last few weeks, especially his nurse Amy and her aide Joanna who made that time so much easier for him and his loved ones.
