Born at home on her family’s farm on the Texas/Oklahoma border near Sherman Texas, during the Great Depression, Edna was afforded humble beginnings and an opportunity of picking hundreds of acres of cotton with her parents and 10 siblings. Hard-work and sacrifice were the building blocks of a strong, independent woman. After completing her education in Grapevine, TX, she moved with her eldest sister to Dallas. It was there that she met the love of her life, Rube Carl Glover while shopping at the local A & P Grocery Store. Shortly thereafter, she became a devoted wife and mother. Making her way in the world through sheer determination, and wit. Edna succeeded by using her spend-thrift skills learned as a child of the depression era, avoiding debt and accomplishing security for herself and her family. She grew from a sharecropper’s daughter to owning a family business in Irving, Texas. She was generous and loyal with her family to a fault. She lived her Christian values and taught morals by example. She was a natural beauty devoid of vanity and the kind of lady who enjoyed tournament fishing with her husband, (always making sure her catch never out-weighed her husband’s catch), she loved dogs, making cakes, candy and sour-dough bread in her younger years. She was a voracious reader, highly intelligent and instinctual, never letting any untruth slip by. Edna Glover was loved and admired by her family and friends.
