Jessie Dial, 91, of Greenville, passed away on October 6, 2020 at the Colonial Lodge in Greenville. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Donelton Cemetery with Mr. Sage Bridges officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Jessie was born July 22, 1929 in Stacy, Texas to Clarence and Ollie Moore Daniel. She was one of thirteen children raised in their blended family.
After graduation from Itasca High School in 1947, Jessie worked at the cotton mill in Itasca before moving to Commerce, Texas in 1951. While in Commerce she worked as a waitress and at the Gulf Shores telephone company as an operator while attending classes at East Texas State Teachers College. It was there she met William “Bill” Dial. They married on June 21, 1957 in Boles, Texas.
Jessie was a stay at home mom until 1969 when she began working at Lone Oak ISD as an educational aid. Her main duty was the elementary PE aid. She worked at Lone Oak Schools until her retirement in 1984 when her and Bill both retired. After retirement they loved to travel and were very pleased in having traveled to all 50 states.
She was a member of Creekside Church of Christ.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Jeanna Dial Petty and husband, Gary; granddaughter, Brittany Petty Lancaster and husband, Chad; great-grandsons, Cason Petty Lancaster, Breck Lee Lancaster; sisters, Mildred Watson, Sylvia Wallace, Inez Kirby, Edith Minor and husband, Jimmy, Patricia McClendon; brother, William Daniel and wife, Linda; sisters-in-law, Phyliss Daniel and Ann Dial Young and husband, Bob; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Florence Edwards, Evelyn Jeffcoat, Rackey Daniel, Vera Mae Woodlee, James Daniel and Bobby Joe Daniel.
