On, Thursday, November 12, 2020, Estefana H. Robles, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 78.  Estefana is survived by her sons Marco Robles and wife Shana, George Robles and wife Amy, and David Robles and wife Lisa, all of Greenville and daughter Norma A. Garza, husband Roberto of La Villa, Texas.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by husband, Alfonso Robles of Greenville and all of her brothers and sisters of Mexico.

Estefana was born on December 27, 1941 in Monterrey, Mexico to Miguel Hernandez—Ranjel and Rosa Luna.   Estefana migrated to the United States at an early age and eventually moved to Greenville in 1968 with her husband Alfonso.   After moving to Greenville, she worked on a farm picking cotton outside of Greenville with her husband Alfonso, then worked at several factories such as Jackson’s Furniture, Haggar Slacks and Lance.  In the coming years, the couple welcomed 2 more children into their home and set about teaching them the value of hard work, honesty and encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Estefana was known through her life for many things but one of the most was her cooking.  Many here in the community have had a place at her table enjoying traditional Mexican food.  She had an annual tradition of making tamales at Christmas for friends and family, even appearing on the front page of the Herald Banner! Each year she would get requests and offers to pay her for this holiday treat but she would always decline payment and say “They taste better as a gift.”

She was a generous and caring individual who loved cooking and working on her yard.  One of her proudest days in her life, aside from the birth of her children, was the day she became a United States citizen.  Although she was born in Mexico and was proud of her heritage, she was a patriot at heart and never missed an opportunity to fly her American flag or vote in elections.   She was a woman of faith, a member of the St. Williams Church since her arrival in Greenville.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Robles, Rance Robles, Brooks Robles, Cody Haynes, Ethan “Eddy” Yanez and Rambo Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers are grandson Massin Robles, United States Army and Kerry Brooks & Paul Cain whom she loved as  sons.

There will be a visitation from 5-7 PM and rosary from 7-8 PM at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville on Sunday, November 15, 2020. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2020 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Greenville at 10 AM. Burial will be after the service at IOOF Caddo Mills with a reception to follow and will be announced at funeral. Father Robert Williams will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Estefana’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hunt County Shared Ministries  at 2805 King Street, Greenville, Texas 75402.

The family would like to thank, Kim Strube, as a friend and caregiver, Dr. Rushing and her staff for the care they gave to her.
