Anna Marie Scott of Greenville, Texas was born on May 7, 1974 to John and Jeanette Scott. Anna overcame profound physical and intellectual challenges and was deeply loved by all who knew her. Anna’s life had notable milestones. She won numerous Special Olympics medals in track and field. She was a faithful member of the Special Friends Sunday School at Highland Terrace Baptist Church, where she attended until recently. Anna was a 1996 graduate of Greenville High School and since then, participated in the Lakes Regional Greenville Training Center.

Anna persevered through her limitations and engaged in church, social and family events as much as she could. Anna loved chocolate more than anyone, and her chocolate snack breaks were always a grand occasion. She also kept meticulous calendars and remembered the birthdays of her family members. One of her favorite past times was listening to CDs, and she enjoyed many kinds of music but especially Christian praise songs. Anna adored her family and many people outside of her family.

Anna had a simple but deep faith: she loved Jesus, she prayed for others, and she believed in heaven. She often comforted others with a hug. Her sweet smile spoke volumes about her cheerful spirit.

Anna is survived by her mother Sandra Jeanette Scott, her sister Sandra Scott Lee, brother-in-law Gordon Kay Lee, nephews Drew Allen McNeely and Nathan Scott McNeely, niece Laura Megan McNeely, her aunt Paula Diane Eason, and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Eric Scott, and her grandparents Helen and Ralph Gibson whom she called “Ma” and “Ging-Ging,” grandmother Melva Scott, affectionally known as “Mimi,” uncle Larry Eason, “Auntie” Camille Durham and uncle “Bobo” Durham.

Anna died on November 19, 2020 at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Texas, the same hospital where she was born. She was 46 years old. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at McWright Cemetery for family only  due to the covid 19 pandemic.
