Jimmy Wayne Lawless, 74, of Commerce, passed away February 8, 2022 in Greenville, TX. Jim was born April 21, 1947 in Monroe County Arkansas to Theodore and Dorothy Knight Lawless. He married Joyce Bailey in December of 1989. He loved the Lord and was a Deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Jim served 4 years in the Navy during the Vietnam era stationed at Rosie Rhodes, Puerto Rico. Training he received in the Navy became his lifetime career as an avionics engineer. He was proud to have worked on and flown in the first Federal Express plane that is housed in the Smithsonian Institution. He was employed by E-Systems, Raytheon, and L-3 Communications until 2009 when lupus forced him into retirement. Jim and Joyce enjoyed 17 vacations in the Hawaiian Islands and made many friends. The Church at Koloa was their place of worship on Kauai and they especially loved the Hula Ministry there.
Jim Leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce Lawless; daughters, Teressa Brown and Husband, Ken of Springfield, GA; Stephanie Lawless of Nashville, TN; Stepson, Ken Tripp and wife, Cynthia of Angleton, TX; stepdaughters, Kimberly Dunn and husband, David of Ballinger, TX; Jari Cathey of Emory, TX; daughter-in-law, Lori Lawless of Lee Center, NY; grandchildren, Adam and Meghan Brown; Jack and Katie Lawless; Brittney Robertson; Kristen Lawson; Cody Rudkin; Bailey, Mary, and Michael Dunn; Brianna and Steve Fleming; great-grandchildren; Abbie, Marlee, Ronan, Caylee, Emma, Hannah, Faith, Adalynn and Amethyst.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Kevin Lawless; granddaughters, Amber and Beth Mosely; and an infant great-grandson.
