Thelma Eleanor Blackburn, 89, of Wills Point (Quinlan) passed away on July 20, 2022. She was born on February 21, 1933 in Rosedale, Maryland to Albert and Ella Hanzlik.
Thelma married Johnny Rayford Blackburn on March 11, 1950. She was well known and loved in the Quinlan community through working at the Quinlan Dairy Queen for over 36 years. Thelma was a member of Lakeview Church. She enjoyed word search puzzles, scrolling on Facebook, and gameshows. She was a good cook who liked being home with her family and loved watching her grandchildren’s football, baseball and basketball games.
Thelma is survived by her son, Danny Blackburn and wife Barbara of Campbell; daughter, Patty States of Quinlan; brother, Bill Hanzlik and wife Brenda of Maryland; sister, Dolores Diegel of Maryland; grandchildren: Shane States and wife Jessica of Quinlan, Christine Mahan and husband Freddy of Garland, Michael Luther and wife Crystal of Killeen; great-grandchildren: Tavin, Austin, Kasin, Alexis, Kymberlye, Kyle, Chase, Fred, Jackie, Brooke, Jennifer, Amanda, Kaitlyn and husband Blaine, Kayliegh; great-great-grandchildren: Lucas, James, Hollis, Cadence, Kenzie, Brooklyn, Bella, Brady, Kensley, Izzy, Matthew, Liam, Jackson, Peter; special friend and cousin, Shirley Gardner of Maryland; Dairy Queen Buddy, Faye Mathis; K9 Kids Roxy and Steph; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Ella Hanzlik; husband, Johnny Rayford Blackburn; grandson, Britt States; granddaughter, Misty Bond.
There will be a funeral service at 10:00 am on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
