Bonnie Nell Shive, 88, of Wolfe City, passed away on September 16, 2022, in Altus, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church Wolfe City with Bro. Tim Hearne officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 6-8 PM at First Baptist Church Wolfe City.
Bonnie was born in the Webb Hill community on May 23, 1934, to Murray A. Scott and Hattie Mae Wisdom Scott. She married the love of her life, Vernon J. Shive on March 8, 1952, in Wolfe City and together they began a life of military service as Vernon served 21 years in the US Air Force. During those years they lived in Ft. Worth, TX., Tripoli, Libya, and Del Rio, TX. Then they settled in Wolfe City where they raised their family and were very active in their community. Together they enjoyed square dancing, serving their church, attending music shows, and traveling to visit their children and grandchildren. Bonnie was an active member of First Baptist Church Wolfe City where she served on multiple committees, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She retired from Ennis Business Forms after working as a bookkeeper for over 30 years. Bonnie was a member of the Kiwanis Club along with her husband, she served on several boards including the Webb Hill Cemetery Board and the Rehobeth Cemetery Board. During her retirement, Bonnie also worked as a substitute teacher for Wolfe City ISD. Bonnie loved spending time with her family, traveling to their sporting events, cooking for her family, and working out in her yard. She was an excellent seamstress and even made a wedding dress.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter Lorecia Riggs & husband Keith of Papillion, Nebraska, son Vernon Shive & fiancé Pam Dunlap of Altus, Oklahoma, daughter Teresa Matthews & husband David of Fulton, Missouri, grandchildren Jennifer Eitzen & husband Carl of Ramstein AFB, Germany, Julie Scott & husband Chad of Mt Pleasant, North Carolina, Keith Riggs & wife Jamie of Papillion, Nebraska, Angela Duckworth & husband Robin of Perkins, Oklahoma, Michael Shive & wife Kirstie of Elmer, Oklahoma, Jason Shive & wife Amber of Altus, Oklahoma, Emily Heister & husband Brandon of Perry, Oklahoma, Kacy Dunlap & fiancé Timmy Hunt of Frederick, Oklahoma, Aaron Matthews of Columbia, Missouri, Ben Matthews & wife Leah of Vail, Arizona, Joel Matthews & wife Rachel of Rockwall, Texas, Jacob Matthews & wife Emmy of St. Louis, Missouri, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and her beloved nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband Vernon Shive, parents Murray and Hattie Mae Scott, brothers Jack Scott & J.T. Scott, sister Venna Mae Turney and great-granddaughter Destiny Shive.
