Paulette (Bateman) Burden Owen, 73, passed away unexpectedly at Lake Point Hospital on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was born on May 25, 1949, to Woodrow Wilson Bateman and Myrtle (Givens) Bateman, in Tylertown, Mississippi.
Paulette attended high school in Mt. Herman, Louisiana, graduating with the class of 1967. She then studied in New Orleans, Louisiana, earning her license as a Registered Nurse in 1971. Paulette spent her career in senior health care. She worked for thirty-five years as the Director of Clinical Operations for Senior Care, which later became Four Square Health Care. In that position, she supervised the Director of Nurses and Assistant Director of Nurses for twenty nursing homes all over Texas. She retired on May 18, 2018.
On January 8, 2008, she married the love of her life, Kenneth “Buddy” Wayne Owen, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They enjoyed 14 years of life together. Paulette had a variety of activities she enjoyed during her retirement. Every morning, she would exercise at the YWCA. She was always concerned about remaining healthy. She also enjoyed collecting glass angels as well as cooking. In the most recent years, she was a member of a very special Weight Watcher group that meant a great deal to her. Her caring, giving spirit will be missed by the group.
Left to cherish Paulette’s memory are her husband, Buddy; her niece, Kimberly Benson and husband, Mark; her nephew, Brian Triola; and a great nephew, Jake Triola.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Myrtle Bateman, and her sister, Peggy Triola and husband, Anthony.
Serving as honorary bearers for Paulette is her Weight Watcher group, Kathy’s Bits and Bites.
