Sue Ann Hicks, 78, of Greenville, passed away on February 19, 2023, at Hunt Regional Medical Center.  A celebration of life will be Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Griffin officiating.

Sue was born on April 29, 1944, in Greenville, Texas to A. C. White and Opal Peaton White.  Sue graduated from Greenville High School in 1962, and was very active in softball and volleyball, and set many records while she was in school.  Sue married the love of her life Bobby Joe Hicks on October 4, 1963, at Park Street Baptist Church in Greenville. For the next twenty years they traveled the country while Joe was in the Army, together they lived in Colorado, Alaska and Oklahoma.  Sue even drove all the way to Alaska because she did not like to fly.

Sue was a loving wife of 59 years, mother and nana and would do anything for her family.  Sue loved watching football and baseball, especially the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.  Sue and daughter Kim would have the best of times during football season with Kim being a Sooners fan. Sue had a passion and love for watching old westerns, and Gunsmoke was her favorite.  Sue was also a mom to Kim’s lifelong best friends Donna Mastalir, Lisa Williams and John Chipman. Sue was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.  Sue worked at Haggar, Lance and Raytheon before retiring and enjoying life.

Sue is survived by husband Joe of Greenville, daughter Kim Griffin Matthews and husband Richard, grandchildren Dakota Griffin and wife Lacey, Sage Griffin and wife Jordan, great grandchildren Milo Griffin and Emryn Griffin and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, brother James White and sister Joyce Sharp.
