Raymond John Murphy, 81, of Greenville, passed away on May 25, 2023, in Greenville. A rosary will be held at 10 A.M., Monday, June 5, 2023 at St. Williams Catholic Church, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ray was born October 18, 1941, in Yonkers, New York, to John Murphy and Helen Ames. He graduated in 1964, from Manhattan College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married June Kelly on January 11, 1969, in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career, Ray worked for the Airborne Instruments Laboratory (AIL), Engineered Systems, E-Systems, Raytheon, and L-3. While working for AIL he served on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation in 1968, in the Gulf of Tonkin, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, June Murphy; sister-in-law, Catherine Murphy; along with several nephews and nieces; and his beloved cat, Emily.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, James Murphy and John Murphy.
