Alma J. Burkhalter, age 83, of Quinlan and formerly of Whitewright, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 12:00P.M. at Ingram Funeral Home. A visitation and viewing will be held from 11:00am – 12:00pm prior to the service. Burial will be held at 2:00pm in Pilot Grove Cemetery in Van Alstyne, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Eric Woody, Clinton Woody, Jason Steedman, Brad Jaeger, Ernie Woody, and Stan Chaney.
Alma Johnson Burkhalter was born on February 6, 1937 in Honey Grove, Texas. She was the daughter of Ray Johnson and Mary Archer Johnson. She married Johnny William Burkhalter on February 6, 1955 and they made their home in the Mid Cities area before moving to the Whitewright Community, where she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She later moved to Quinlan following the passing of her husband on September 22, 2013. Alma was a pharmacy technician for Smith Drug in McKinney for 30 years until her retirement. Alma enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing and oil painting. She was also preceded in death by her son Mark Burkhalter in 2008, her grandson, Kevin Chaney in 2005 and two sisters, Margaret Gaston in September 2005 and June Williams.
She is loved and will be missed by her daughters, Annette Woody and husband Ernie of Summerville, Georgia and Karen and husband Stan Chaney of Quinlan; grandchildren, Clinton, Rebekah, Jennifer, Eric, and Dylan; greatgrandchildren, Lorna, Margo, Joelle, Johanna, James, Rhys, Ellis, Caden and Madison; sister, Jean Lackey of Bonham and Brother, Arthur Johnson of Greenville.
