Armando Cantu, 63, of Greenville passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Living Word Church with Rev. Lucas McManus officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Born June 8, 1956 in Lubbock, Texas, Armando was the son of David Cantu and Inez (Garza) Cantu. On April 13, 1979 in Reno, Nevada, he married Rosemarie Rodriguez. For 33 years, Armando faithfully worked as a machine operator for Solvay, Inc. (formerly Fiberite) of Greenville. He was an active member of Living Word Chuch where he served in various ministries. He served passionately as an encourager and motivator to others.
Armando was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and relative to many. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rosemarie of Greenville; mother, Inez Nunez of Lubbock; son, Anthony Samuel Cantu of Lubbock; daughters Amanda Marie Brown and husband Cory of Grand Prairie, Melissa Nicole Cantu of Greenville, and Madison Elaine Phillips and husband, Scott of Greenville; brothers David Cantu, Joe Cantu, Robby Cantu, and Christopher Cantu all of Lubbock; sisters Dorothy Cantu, Rebecca Cantu, Julie Pena and Erica Cantu, all of Lubbock; grandchildren Brian Drew Gann, Malorie Rose Cantu, Allison Grace Luna, Colton Wyatt Casey, Zoe Ilene Phillips and Emma Joy Lynn Phillips all of Greenville along with 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren all of Lubbock; and a large number of other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, David; brother, John Cantu; pastor, Rev. Scott Ray McManus; and uncle, Bob Lazano.
Pallbearers will be David Cantu, Robby Cantu, Drew Gann, Angel Valentin, Curtis Carter, Rev. Raul Garza, Scott Phillips and Jonathan Herrera; Honorary pallbearers will be Scottie Teray Nelson, Donald Whitehead, Hector Corona, Jr., and Joe Cantu.
