Ava Dougherty Marks left this life to dwell in the House of the Lord on May 28, 2019, surrounded by family.  Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, May 31, 2019 at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. Steve Payne officiating.  Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

She was born in Trenton, Texas to Ruth and Eldon Dougherty on February 6, 1936.  She married Novis Leon Marks in 1954 and had three children.

She is survived by children, Darrell and Tracey Marks and Donna Marks and Mark McCarley; grandchildren, Malynda and Phillip Poarch and Kevin and Sylvia Marks; step-grandson, Matthew Fox and four great-grandchildren, Grace, Emily, Destiny and Ike.  She also leaves behind a brother Bob Dougherty and sisters, Linda Foster, Debra Smith and Teresa Chandler; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law and nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death and welcomed in Heaven by her parents, husband, son, David (Beau) Marks, as well as beloved grandparents and aunts and uncles.

She was a loving mother and wife.  Her life was filled with the daily work of supporting her family, from PTA to Cub Scout Den Mother to farmer’s wife and farm hand.  She will be greatly missed by those left behind.

The family wants to thank Dignity and Kindred Hospice.  Their care, kindness and love were invaluable and greatly appreciated.  The family would also like to acknowledge, thank and express their love to Colonial Lodge and it’s staff at Tender Care for their kindness, love and support.  To the staff…great is your reward in Heaven.
