Barbara Kay Tipps age 81, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, in Greenville, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 26, 2024, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stan Coleman officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. until service time. Interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Barbara was born on May 20, 1943, in Greenville, Texas, to Richard Elmo Scarbrough and Essie Kathleen Nowlin. She married James Austin Tipps on March 30, 1964, in Greenville, Texas. She retired from Ennis Tag and Label and was a member of The Church at River Oaks. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother. She always took care of her loved ones and did the best she could to teach and guide them. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, homemaking, and most importantly, spending cherished time with her grandchildren. She loved to laugh and joke around. Barbara was a strong matriarch of the family and a good friend to all. She is loved and will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her sons, Eddie Tipps and wife, Tammie, and Michael Tipps and wife, Tina; daughter, Sheila Phillips and husband, Billy; sisters, Joyce Daughtery and husband, Wayne, Paula Sumrow, Carolyn Caldwell, and Judy Ethridge; grandchildren, Justin Tipps and wife, Lauren, Jason Tipps and wife, Caitlyn, Christina Kasehagen and husband, Cody Evett, Billy James Phillips, Carlos Gonzalez and wife, Ashley, Alisha Waddell and husband, Ronnie, Kayla Shirley and husband, Jonathan, Aaron Phillips, Stacy Matthews and husband, Nathan, Jimmy Allen Tipps, and John Wayne Tipps; great-grandchildren, Tealynn Tipps, Clyde Tipps, Baylee Tipps, Brenndan Waddell, Kayden Waddell, Lexi Waddell, Allie Waddell, Harper Gonzalez, Olive Gonzalez, Novalee Evett and Hadley Shirley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tipps; her parents, Richard and Essie Scarbrough, brother, Richard Scarbrough, and grandson, Grant Tipps; granddaughter, Adelynn Tipps.
Pallbearers will be Justin Tipps, Jason Tipps, Carlos Gonzalez, Billy James Phillips, Jimmy Allen Tipps, and Kayden Wayne Waddell.
