Barney Joe Dennis died peacefully at home on October 11 at the age of 57.

Barney is survived by his wife Sue Hinerman Gile Dennis, stepchildren (whom he loved as his own) Michael Williams-Hinerman, Curtis W Gile, Paige E Gile and Garrett J Gile, grandsons Mason Rotan and Maddox Gile, sister Patti Faircloth and husband John of Josephine, Texas and nephew Little John. and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Barney was born in Garland Texas to Raymond and Lola Florence Dennis on January 24, 1964 and graduated from Garland High School in 1982.  Barney started in the automotive business at a young age, in both sales and finance. Although he left the car business for a period of time to work in the mortgage industry, he would always return to work in the auto industry because deep down he was a “car guy”. He loved being able to help people find and buy their cars and it gave him the opportunity to meet and get to know  so many customers who ended up becoming life long friends.  Barney loved getting to know people.

Barney enjoyed karaoke with friends, country western dancing and spending time in the outdoors.  Barneys fondest memories of growing up were of times spent camping and boating with family.  He loved telling stories of the days at Lake Proctor and of his dad’s powercat boat. Or being with Mama and Papa Smith on their farm in Rowlett. As he grew older he found joy being at home with his family and friends and his many rescue animals, most especially His beloved lab Elvis and his bull dog Shiner. Barney had a special spot in his heart for animals and although many thought he had so many pets because of his wife, it was actually Barney who would always take in the strays, saying “we could make room for one more”.

He leaves lasting and wonderful memories for family and friends. In life Barney always put 110% in and his for those who followed his struggle with cancer know he was a fighter. He wouldn’t allow his declining health to steal his Joy. He pushed on.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
