Beverly was born on November 10, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Harvey and Beatrice Miller. She grew up alongside her two older brothers, George and Bill, in a household filled with love, laughter and a sense of responsibility to do the right thing, a motto she embraced throughout her life. Many of Beverly’s most cherished memories were of times spent with her family at their lake house in Minocqua, Wisconsin.

Beverly pursued higher education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Her decision to attend this prestigious women’s college was as much due to its outstanding reputation as it was because she could take her horse with her. Beverly loved horses from a very young age, successfully showing 5 gaited Saddlebreds and Tennessee Walkers for many years.
Following graduation, Beverly visited a friend in Atlanta who had recently become a stewardess at Delta Airlines. She decided this was the career for her, interviewing and being hired within days. Lori and Stephani are especially grateful that she chose this career as it was on a flight from Atlanta to Dallas that Beverly met her first husband, Stephen Ward Brainard. Being a mother was the most important aspect of Beverly’s life, and she excelled at it.

A couple of years after Steve’s death in 1981, Beverly begrudgingly attended a party at a friend’s home. It was at this party that she met Mike Adkisson, MD. Beverly and Mike were married in January 1985. They shared over 40 years together and were blessed with a marriage that many envied. Together they enjoyed Mike’s band “Doc and The Gang,” snow skiing, traveling, attending Texas A&M football games and most especially the camaraderie of 4 other Greenville couples who called their group “The Osprey’s.”
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Lori Copeland and Stephani Brainard; granddaughter, Cheyenne Wilson; niece, Jill Suhr (Robert); nephews, Mark Miller (Kathy), Jeff Miller, Greg Miller, George Brainard (Amanda), John Brainard (Kishna) and their children. She is also survived by stepchildren, Megan Disney (Andrew), Holly Clapp (Greg), David Adkisson (Fran) and their children.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Beatrice Miller; brother, George Miller; first husband, Steve Brainard and his parents, G.R. ”Pete” and Lola Brainard; her true love, husband, Mike Adkisson, MD; sisters-in-law, Lynn Miller, Iris Miller, and Tubby Adkisson; and brothers-in-law, Jay Adkisson and Dan Brainard.

Beverly’s life was a testament to her loving nature and unwavering kindness. She was known for her ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her, often using her sharp wit and humor to uplift others. Her warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew her, making her a cherished friend and confidante.
