Bill Dyer, 86, of Campbell, passed away on August 31, 2019, peacefully at his home, with family by his side. He was born March 24, 1933 in Sweetwater, Texas to the late King David and Zettie Dyer. On May 30, 1953 he married Dolores Davis in Mount Vernon, Texas.
He was a loving husband, caring father to Cindy and devoted PaPa to Mikey and Randall Phillips. Bill worked at General Motors for 35 years. In retirement, Bill and Dolores became owners of Dyer Auto Sales in Campbell for twenty years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Campbell, Texas.
Bill always had a passion for cars and drag racing. In his younger years, he won many trophies along with many championships. He loved working on and rebuilding motors and making them run faster. He also loved riding motorcycles with Cindy. The most important thing in his life was his family and watching Mikey grow into a man.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Bannert and boyfriend Joe Jones, grandsons, Mikey and Randall Phillips and a sister, Fannie Stretcher. Many nephews and nieces also survive him. He will be missed by a loving circle of friends and family.
He was preceded in death by both parents; wife Dolores; two brothers: David Dyer and J.D. Dyer; and three sisters: Jacquelyn Dyer, Ruth Martin, and Oleta Stretcher. Also preceding him in death were his nephew, Clint Martin and son-in-law, Joe Bannert.
Funeral services will be held for Bill on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Jones-Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce, Texas. Visitation will be held the hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Bill Webb officiating. A private interment will be held at Gafford Chapel Cemetery on Hwy. 11 west of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
