Brenda Ann Wigington, also known as MeMaw, 70, of Merit, Texas, passed away on December 16, 2020 in Greenville. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Higher Trails Cowboy Church with Mr. Eddie Singleton officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Merit Cemetery.

Bren/ Memaw was born July 30, 1950 in Merit, Texas to Earnest E. Doan and Nita Doan. Most known for the time she spent at Merit Post Office. She was like the Newspaper of Merit and was always there to make a cake when needed. The town will never be the same without her.

She was survived by her mother, Nita Doan; husband, Jack Wigington; daughter, Samantha Limmer and boyfriend, Neal Shepherd; son, James Wigington and girlfriend, Leslie Banks; brothers, Jim Doan and wife, Shelley; Buck McDonald and wife, Vicke, and Monte Doan and wife, Sheila; grandchildren, Harley Limmer, Andrew Limmer, Wyatt Wigington and Weston Wigington, with special thanks to bonus kids, Katie Wigington, Jimmy Davis and Jennifer Davis.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest E. Doan; grandmother, Lola Griffin also known as “Original Memaw”; brother, Rick Doan and dear friends, Jimmy and Linda Davis.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Davis, Johnny Nailling, Zach Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Trey McIver, Trey Hurst, Sam Shepherd and Mindy Doan. Honorary pallbearers will be David Doan, Tyler Hurst, Glen “Bubba” Landrum, Darrell Limmer and Johnny Wayne Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made donated to Merit Volunteer Fire Department or Bland Youth Sports Association.
