With heavy hearts, the family announces the death of Carol Lee Simpkins, age 91, on March 18, 2025 in Greenville, TX from natural causes. A devoted mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and wife; a cherished grandmother; a loving great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. At her request, there will not be a funeral service. An intimate family gathering to celebrate Carol’s life will be held at a later date.

Carol Simpkins (Johnson) was born on September 17, 1933 to Verda and Benjamin Johnson in Pittsburg, Kansas. Carol was the youngest daughter of two children. Later in life, she was married to Waylon H. Simpkins and together they had two children.

Carol lived a life full of adventures, love, laughter, mischief, and resilience. The family she leaves behind, will always remember her strength, determination, and free spirit. She was a woman that lived life on her terms, as a force of nature, always to be seen with combed hair and red lipstick. Our family mourns the loss of the woman we love but, we find peace knowing she is reunited with her husband, family, and animals in Heaven. Her love, loyalty, guidance, wisdom, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Verda Johnson; father, Benjamin Johnson; husband, Waylon H. Simpkins; sister, Maxine Garret; brother-in-law, Don Garret; daughter-in-law, Kathy Simpkins; and nephew, Danny Garrett.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Thibault; son, Robby Simpkins; grandchildren, Jodi White (Brad), Gary Brown (Kristi), Beau Maxcy, Kyle Maxcy, Lacey Cotten (Josh), Jaylon Simpkins, and Jennifer Osorio (Danny); great-grandchildren, Keilee Stockton (Brandy), Shai Meyer (Manuel), Riley Josey (Taylor), Connor Cotten, Carter Cotten, Lyla Cotten, Gabe Maxcy, Kylee Simpkins, Isabel Simpkins, and Marlee Simpkins; and great-great-grandchildren, Brynlea Pippin, Mallaree Enriquez, Mateo Enriquez, Madilyn Bickerstaff, and Mason Bickerstaff.
