He leaves to cherish his memory, his Wife: Carla Thornton; Sons: Diangelo Massey, Mario Cozine, and Gene Smith all of Commerce, Texas; Daughters: Courtney Walters, Raven Smith, Alkeisha Smith, Toree Smith, Alexis Adams; 31 Grandchildren; 2 Great – Grandchildren; Mother: Zola Faye Franklin of Greenville, Texas; Sisters: Velma Hall of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Annie Williams (Johnny) of Greenville, Texas; Brothers: James “ST” Thornton, Jr. and Robert Franklin of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Rodney Thornton of
Mesquite, Texas, and Tony Franklin of Dallas, Texas; Stepsisters: Betty Franklin and Kathy Nelson of Greenville, Texas, Sandra Nelson and Janice Berry of Sulphur Springs, Texas; a special aunt, Willie Grace Everett; special uncle, Hervy “Tinky” McMillian and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews,
other relatives, and friends.
Charles is preceded in death by and welcomed by both of his fathers, James “Jim” Thornton Sr. and John Franklin, Two sisters, Annie Maureen Pendergraff and Betty Lou Cooper; and Three Special Nephews: Christopher Johnson, Jr., Branshaun Boyce, and David Johnson.
