Christa Elizabeth Sikes, 82, of Greenville, Texas passed away at home with family by her side on May 4, 2022.
Christa was born in Berlin, Germany on Feb. 1, 1940 to Ilse Käthe Kronhausen and Heinrich Christoph Hussmann.
Christa was a wonderful mother and a passionate person who lived life to the fullest. She came to the United States in 1977 after her husband, Robert, retired from the U.S. Air Force. The family settled near Greenville, Texas, where Christa raised two children, volunteered in the community, and managed a 60-acre farm with her husband.
Christa was an active person and always strived to make Greenville a better place. She volunteered for numerous organizations over the years, including selling season tickets for Greenville Entertainment Series and Greenville Symphony. Christa was also a nature and animal lover. She raised German Shorthaired Pointers and fostered hundreds of stray dogs and cats.
Christa is survived by her son, Jens Sikes (Kristine Shipley); and her daughter, Nancy Cordero (Frank).
Christa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert W. Sikes; and son, Kai Chester Sikes.
A memorial service will be held at the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel on May 20, 2022, at 10 a.m. A luncheon will be held afterwards to celebrate Christa’s life.

Christa and Robert will be interred together at the DFW National Cemetery at a later date.
