Curtis Lawton Smith Jr., 83, passed away on November 30, 2022. Curtis was born November 28, 1939 in Lane, Texas to Curtis Smith Sr. and Comora Sims. He married Barbara Ann Lipsey on August 14, 1959 in Celeste, Texas. He worked in the carpet business for over 50 years. Curtis shared his love of country music with Barbara and performed in many local opries. He attended North Baptist Church.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Smith; son, Curtis Smith III and wife, Pat; daughter, Kim LeBaron and husband, Layne; brother, David Smith; sister, Claudine Anderson and husband, Don; grandchildren, Ashley Choate and husband, Andy, James Smith and wife, Katie, Dru Smith, Gage Smith and Connor LeBaron; great grandchildren, Paisley and Rayleigh Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas Smith, Benjamin Smith; and sister, Clara Jean Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Kelly Reagan and James Seigler will officiate. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. until service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Andy Choate, James Smith, Dru Smith, Gage Smith, Connor LeBaron and Layne LeBaron.
