David Lee Alexander, 68, of Greenville, Tx, passed away on July 31, 2025 in Greenville, Texas. A memorial service will be 6:00 P.M., Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Alexander and Mr. Gene Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until service time.
David was born October 16, 1956 in Mesquite, Tx. and was the son of Rev. Lee and Lavana Alexander.
David graduated from Commerce High School in 1975. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s of public administration from East Texas State University.
David married Linda Alexander (Galloway) on January 25, 1985 in Quinlan, Tx by Justice of the Peace Carleen Dooley.
David had a long career in law enforcement, beginning with jailer through the rank of Chief Deputy for the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department. He went on to join the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, promoting from the ranks to Captain of the Dallas/Fort Worth region before retiring after 20 plus years.
Deciding he wasn’t quite ready for retirement, he went to work as Assistant Director for Hunt County Homeland Security for the next 17 years. David’s years in law enforcement led him to form lifelong friendships he cherished.
David is survived by Wife Linda; Son Ryan Sasser (Christina) and Daughter Kristen Pruett (Dave). He was a proud Pawpaw to 9 grandchildren Alexandrea Theiss (Quintin), Makenzie Self, Tyler Self (Fernanda), Dakota Sasser (Jada), Lane Sasser, Madison Self, Hayley Pruett, Mason Wright (Kailyn), Jayden Retiz. Eight great-grandchildren Zayn and Cassian Theiss, Olivia Korinek and Dallas Leveritt, Brentley Sasser, Averie Sasser, Paisleigh and Ronin Wright; Brother Dr. Danny Alexander and Sister in Law Dr. Amy Alexander; along with many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Rev. Lee and Lavana Alexander.
