David Wayne Reed went to reside with the Lord on January 24th, surrounded by the love of his family. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, godfather, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
David was blessed with a large and loving family. He was married to Mary Jo Baker Smith Reed who was a cherished partner in his life’s journey until her death. With Mary Jo and through a previous marriage, he raised six children, who brought him immense pride and joy: David Paul Reed and his wife, Diane Reed; Dee Grubowski and her husband, Myron Grubowski; Laura Steelman and her husband, Dennis Steelman; Christy Wolff and her husband, Matthew Wolff; Angela Baxter and her husband, Ken Baxter; Amber Keenan and her husband, Billy Keenan.
David’s legacy extends through his 16 beloved grandchildren: Daniel Steelman and his wife, Traci Steelman; Jeremiah Steelman and his wife, Skylar Steelman; Mary Baxter; Sarah Martinez and her husband, Arturo Martinez; Grace Hampshire and her husband, Lawson Hampshire; Brittany Hagman and her husband, Braden Hagman; Jessica Steelman; Alena Weeks and her husband, Bailey Weeks; Ted Reed; Jackie Fontenot and her husband, Matthew Fontenot; Rose Grubowski; Wesley Reed; Benjamin Reed; Emily Wolff; Garrison Keenan; Christopher Wolff.
David was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, who were the light of his later years: Madilyn Buster; Zoe Steelman; Makenzie Buster; Brynlee Penner; Bennet Hagman; Orin Hampshire; Jo Weeks; William Fontenot; Coburn Hampshire; Kamryn Steelman; David Fontenot; Baker Hagman; Bostyn Hagman; Naomi Martinez; Theo Weeks; Hazel Hampshire; Richard Fontenot; Ezra Steelman; Rory Weeks.
David’s love extended beyond his family to his godchildren, whom he cherished deeply: Tim Vinsant and his wife, Ashley Vinsant, and their children, Sarah Vinsant and Hannah Vinsant; Rachel Stromsmoe and her husband, Skylar Stromsmoe, and their children, Jett Stromsmoe and Knox Stromsmoe.
David’s life was a testament to his faith, his deep love for his family, and his commitment to serving others. He will be remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, and the countless ways he brought joy and love to those around him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on February 1st, 2025 at 1PM at Vansickle Baptist Church. The viewing will be held at Vansickle Baptist Church on February 1 from 10 a.m. until noon. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
