Delmar Lee Abbott, 79, of Quinlan, Texas, passed away on January 24, 2021. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Ingram Funeral Home with Christopher Hoover officiating.
Delmar was born on October 13, 1941, to Eugene Abbott and Lucille Davis Abbott. His birth certificate read Henderson County, but he’d absolutely argue that he was born and raised in Van Zandt County. He was married to Lometa Ashton from 1961 to 1973. In the late 1970s, he met and spent over 30 years with his partner in crime, Bernice, until her passing in 2010. Delmar had a huge heart for his family; there was truly nothing more important to him. He spent many of his days working in the oilfield and building silos, and he enjoyed working on cars and drinking beer with his dad. There isn’t a thing he didn’t know about cars, and he loved gardening, too. Delmar had also seen every state there is to see, probably in a fast car with a pretty woman.
Delmar is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Abbott and Lucille Davis Abbott; grandparents, John Warren and Susan Elizabeth, and Grandma and Grandpa Davis; brothers, Jackie Abbott, Vandell Abbott and Loy Dean Abbott; and his partner in crime, Bernice.
Delmar is loved and will be dearly missed by his sons, Emerson Lee Abbott, Frankie Abbott and wife Crystle, and Steven Keith Abbott and wife Molly; daughters, Delmeta Lynn Hoover and husband Dean, and Belinda Kaye Abbott and husband Carbin; brothers, Frankie Abbott, and Phillip Abbott; sister, Debbie Kaye; grandchildren, Christopher Hoover, Josh Hoover, Matthew Abbott, Amber Morrison, Heather Abbott, Eric Hoover, Kaelyn Morrison, Ashton Abbott, Wyatt Abbott, Melissa Hammonds, Christine Rodriquez, Tucker Abbott, Stephanie Rader, James Keith Abbott, Jamie Abbott, Samantha Abbott, and Dakota Culpepper; and twenty-two great grandbabies.
