Dixon Wallace Latham, 84, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 17, 2024. He was born July 25, 1939, in Bowie, TX to Weldon and Loretta Latham.
Throughout his life, he was a preacher, a man of God first and law enforcement second. He was a police officer, sheriff, and juvenile/adult probation officer in Greenville, TX. Dixon was a long-time member of the local Lion Club and sat on the board of the Audi Murphy Museum for many years to honor Veterans. Dixon was a loving and a “give the shirt off his back” kind of person who enjoyed spending time with children and helping others, as well as serving the community in any way he could. He was a talented guitar player who loved to write his own music and sing.
Dixon is survived by daughter, Shannon and Allen Walsh of Greenville, TX; son, Stephen Paul Latham and Karen Latham of Caddo Mills, TX; niece, DR Latham of Waco, TX; granddaughters, Saundra and Cory Roberts of Enid, OK, Adella Atherton and Stephen Paul Freeman, II of Tawakoni, TX, Amanda Atherton of Mineola, TX; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Blair of Tahlequah, OK; great grandson, Stephen Paul Freeman, III of Tawakoni, TX.
Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Loretta Latham; brother, Ray Latham; sister, Jodi Latham; and son, Weldon Mark Latham.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 26, 2024 in the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville, Texas.
