Dr. Anna Lou Allen Blohm, 85, of Commerce, passed away on January 20, 2025. Anna was born January 3, 1940, in Alton, Missouri to Carl and Mabel Allen.   A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Commerce. Immediately following will be a Graveside Service at Brigham Cemetery in Campbell.

Anna graduated from high school in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1958. She earned a B.S.E. degree from Henderson State University where she was a member of the Alpha Chi scholastic fraternity, cheerleader captain, sorority president, Heart and Key Service fraternity, Miss HSU Homecoming Queen, and Outstanding senior woman in 1962. She then went on to earn an M.S. and EdD. degree at East Texas State University in 1978, majoring in counseling/psychology and a minor in Special Education. Dr. Blohm began her teaching career in Helena, Arkansas followed by employment at Commerce ISD as a counselor/diagnostician for the Tri-County Cooperative. She then served as principal of A.L. Day Elementary and Commerce Elementary School. She ended her teaching career as an adjunct professor for the Department of Special Education and Counseling at East Texas State University until she retired in 1996.

Anna was involved in numerous local civic organizations including the Commerce Meals on Wheels, Thalian Club, Commerce Literacy Program, Commerce Hospital Auxiliary volunteer, P.E.O. member, Commerce Public Library volunteer, First United Methodist Church member, and the Hunt County Retired Teachers Association.

In addition to her parents, those proceeding her in death include her husband of 56 years, Dr. Fred Blohm, her sister, Judy Faulkenberry, and her brother, Joe Ben Allen.

She is survived by her children Daniel Blohm of Commerce, Cynthia Blohm Yoakum (Kelly), and Douglas Blohm (Tania), four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Frist United Methodist Church Youth Program, 1709 Highway 24, Commerce, Texas 75428.
