Elveta McCurdy Cardenas, 88, went to be with her heavenly father on November 18, 2021. Elveta was the firstborn child to Leucious Leon McCurdy and Purnie Alice Elliot on January 21, 1933, in Weiland, Texas.
Elveta’s accomplishments far exceeded her humble beginnings. She became one of the most accomplished teachers of special needs children with an emphasis on specialized reading skills. She was a gifted artist, an experienced seamstress, a gardener, a nature enthusiast and above all a life-long scholar of the Bible.
Elveta is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Steele and Sylvia Phillips; her grandchildren Marc Aguilar, Anna Aguilar, and Sydney Evans, a great-grandson Lucas Aguilar and a brother Coy McCurdy, and sisters Aureta Hott and Purneta Wagner.
The family will hold a graveside service on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 11 AM.
