Gary Dean Caplinger, 64, of Greenville passed away on March 18, 2024, at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday At Higher Ground Country Church in Quinlan under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. Pastors Josh Lott, Mark Garrett, and Charlie Nassar will be officiating.
Gary was born September 19, 1959 in Bonham to Betty Jo (Smith) and Carrol Dean Caplinger. On March 16, 2007 in Bonham, he married Cara Scallan. He retired from retail management and currently served as pastor of Higher Ground Country Church in Quinlan.
He is survived by his wife, Cara Caplinger of Greenville; sons, Dustin Caplinger and wife, Erika and Jordan Caplinger and wife, Aubrey, Jeffrey Lanting and daughter, Ashleigh LaBrot; brothers, Ronnie Caplinger and wife, Cara, Jimmy Caplinger and wife, Tammy and Larry Joe Caplinger; and grandchildren, Payton, Teagan, Tinley, Hoyt, Evelyn and Emma.
Gary’s parents, grandparents, and uncles preceded him in death.
Family requests memorials be made to Higher Ground Country Church, 2585 E. Quinlan Pkwy., Quinlan, TX 75474 in lieu of flowers.
