Gary William Caldwell Sr. of Greenville, TX was 69 years old when he received his golden halo & silver angel wings on October 6th, 2023 after a brave fight with COPD, AFIB and pancreatic cancer. Gary was born on August 17, 1954 in Monrovia, California, the last child & son to James Durward Caldwell and Alice Elizabeth Hayes Caldwell. Gary was a devoted & loving father, grandfather, great grandfather & most wonderful, kind and faithful husband.
Gary Caldwell Sr. is survived by his wife of 23-year LeeAnn Caldwell, Son Gary Caldwell Jr. & wife Jessie Denise, his daughter Alice Marie Nelson & fiancé Rodney Siders, Sister Nedra Kemp and sister-in-law Mary Ellen and brother-in-law Thurman Selman. Grandchildren John and Shelby Story, Jessica Story, Kaylee, James, and Peyton Nelson. Great Grandson Josiah Story, Nephews James and Carol Selman, Billy Keri Selman, Frankie Selman, and Stephen & Nadie Selman. Brian and Chris Kemp. Nieces Stacy Tockerman, Tracy Dyson, and Michelle Kemp. Numerous great nephews and nieces. Several great-great nephews and nieces. As well as many cousins. Gary is also survived by multiple sons and daughters through heart and love… Alex Padilla, Pablo Sandoval, Osvaldo Hernandez, Nathan Garza and his wife Rebecca, Bonnie and Jamie Richmond.
He was a true family man always caring and loving family whether by blood, marriage, or heart. He always helped and treated every family member as very important. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother James H. Caldwell, brothers-in-law Leland Kemp and Rick Branson, sister Cindy Lou Caldwell Salman Branson, and son-in-law Thomas G. Nelson, and first wife Lynda Joyce Emerson Caldwell. As well as many families, friends, and coworkers.
Gary was an experienced tow truck operator of 40 years assisting police and stranded motorists within the DFW metroplex for multiple companies beginning in 1981 with Buck Hayes Wrecker and retiring in 2010 with J&S/Joe’s Towing. He handled all forms from conventional to landoll centerfold, medium, tilt beds, and heavies as well as repairs to the touch. He was very knowledgeable about using dollies, slings, and snatch blocks and could upright an overturned vehicle with a flatbed. He spent many years in the parts industry through Robertson fleet, Lee Jarmon Ford, retiring in 2013 from O’Reilly’s Auto Parts as an assistant store manager. In his lifetime, he held many other jobs doing excellent at all endeavors. He loved to build model cars and he began building when he was nine years old. He was interested in all things dealing with cars like car shows, hot rods, collecting Hot Wheels, and Diecast. He also liked to work on vehicles and he loved of country music.
