Gilbert Barela, age 84, of Greenville passed away on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2020. Gilbert was born on May 13, 1936 in Chico, New Mexico, the son of Jacob Barela and Amelia Sanchez. Gilbert married Cristina Gallegos in Guymon, Oklahoma on December 28, 1968.
Gilbert is survived by his wife Cristina; son, Gabriel Barela of Dallas, TX; daughter, Melody Barela of McKinney, TX; sisters, Lucy Romero of Albuquerque, NM, Alice Romero of Strafford, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Amelia; and sister, Victoria Granado.
Family will hold memorial service on a later date.
