Glenda Grissom Capps, age 77, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on November 2, 2021. She was born on July 12, 1944 in Tampa, Florida to her parents James and Audrey Grissom. From an early age, she was active in music and athletics, participating in choir, orchestra, varsity tennis, and dance. She also loved being a member of Mt. Franklin Rainbow Association and served as Grand Musician of the Grand Assembly of Texas. She graduated from Austin High School in 1962 and then attended University of Texas in El Paso, Texas. Glenda received her degree in 1967 and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority, serving as vice president and pledge trainer.

Glenda and James Corley Capps Jr. were married in El Paso, Texas on August 20, 1965 at Asbury Methodist Church. Together, they raised their three children. Glenda retired from teaching after 35 years and continued being active through acrylic painting and ceramic doll making. She loved traveling, having taken dozens of cruises with family and friends over the past 30 years and visiting cities throughout the world.

Glenda is survived by her mother Audrey Grissom of Alamogordo, NM; her sisters, Linda Clark of Ruidoso, NM and Kathy Grissom of Tampa, FL; her children, Suzanne Harrison of Queen Creek, AZ, Dana Capps and James Capps of Greenville, TX; her grandchildren Amanda Lynch, Roderick James Harrison Jr., Madisyn Harrison, and Hailey Garrett of Queen Creek, AZ, Corey Capps of San Antonio, TX, Katelynn Capps, Kasey Capps, and Lauren Capps of Allen, TX; her great-grandchildren Isabella Harrison, Michael Lynch, Paityn Lynch, and Remington Hernandez of Queen Creek, AZ, and Elizabeth Capps of San Antonio, TX. Glenda is also survived by her loving cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She will forever be in their hearts, thoughts, and memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Capps and father James Grissom.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on November 27, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruidoso, NM.
