Helen Louise Benton (Carter), age 88, passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2025. Born on June 13th, 1937, in Floyd, Texas, Helen lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Helen was known for her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her children and supporting her loved ones with grace and strength. For a time, she also worked at Lance, bringing the same care and diligence to her work that she gave to every aspect of her life.
Helen was a lifelong and faithful member of Family Fellowship Church, formerly known as Lamar Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in the life and ministry of the congregation. Her faith was a cornerstone of who she was — a source of strength, comfort, and deep purpose throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving children: Charlotte Dundas and husband Terry, Thresa Murphey, and Randy Benton. She leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren: Stacey Mitchell and Mark, Shannon Unruh and Clint, Cody Murphey, Meaghan Krafka and Adam, Colton Murphey and Kasey, Mariah Murphey, Shane Benton and Alexia, and Ashley Benton and A.J. She was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Helen is also survived by her sister Arlene Stokes and husband Robert, sister-in-law Shirley Carter, and a host of cherished friends and church family who were like extended family to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Murry Benton, her father Ervin Ralph Carter, mother Ammie Melrose O’Pry, and brother Marshall Carter.
Helen’s life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion — she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
