Jackie Don White, 79, of Commerce, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 in Commerce. He was born on January 1, 1940, the son of Lesley Lee White and Velma Owen Julian. The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place on Monday, December 23, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Wolfe City, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Trails Cowboy Church with Pastor Oliver Mowat officiating. Burial will follow at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie, Texas.
Jackie attended Commerce High School, graduating in 1959. He later worked as a mechanic in the trucking industry. He was a faithful member of the Cross Trails Cowboy Church since its early days, while they were meeting in a white tent. He also served on the Sonora Cemetery Association for many years. Jackie loved camping and the outdoors. He owned a Winnebago motorhome and created many memories with his family traveling around the country. He also had a real love of bluegrass music, obtaining quite a collection over the years. Jackie was known as one who was always ready to help someone when they had a need. He was a very selfless person, giving of himself and his talents on many occasions. He will be missed by many at the church and community.
Jackie is survived by his daughter, Julie Faulknor and husband, Tim, his son Jeff White and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Tommy Faulknor and fiance` Victoria, Jessica Guzman and husband Scott, Trent White and wife, Selene; great-grandchildren, Bella, Addie, Brayden, Trinity, Gabe, Emmy, Abigail, JT and Bayleigh; his brothers Ronald White and wife, Paula and Monty White and wife, Faye as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lesley and Velma White, his sister, Margaret Pope and a grandson, Jamie White.
Serving as casket bearers for Jackie are Tommy Faulknor, Trent White, Scott Guzman, Ben White, Billy White and Dwayne Pope.
Honorary bearers will be Harold Luckett, Danny Humphries and Robert Speights.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be given in Jackie’s memory to Cross Trails Cowboy Church, 4761 FM 1563, Wolfe City, Texas 75496.
