James H. “Judge” Treadway—Navy veteran, Leonard Tiger, proud father of four—died at home, surrounded by his children, on September 25, 2022.  He was 82.

James was born on May 2, 1940, in Leonard, Texas, to Billy and Jerline Treadway. He joined the Navy in 1961 and served on the USS Hoel. James worked at Texas Instruments for over 30 years until retirement. He would later live and work “out at the marina,” where he and his easy-going dog, Max, worked as night watchmen. James loved football (lineman, Leonard Tigers, No. 84), rock ‘n’ roll music, Westerns, and Dr. Pepper.  He enjoyed marriage and tried it out several times.

James is survived by his sons Billy Thomas Treadway and wife Wendy, James Kyle Treadway and wife Kellie, daughters Robin Elaina Treadway, Traci Treadway-Burt and partner David Kamman, sister Jo Edna Cooper, and grandchildren Fletcher Burt, Payton McWhorter, Max McWhorter, Kair Davis, Tyler Holman, Sydney Powell, Abby Treadway and Keats Treadway.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Leonard with Mr. Charles Wrenn officiating. Burial will follow the service at Leonard Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

James is preceded in death by his parents.
