James ”Jim” LeRoy Love, Jr. a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 71 surrounded by his true love Brenda Cunningham Love and loved ones at the Hunt Regional Medical Center. Jim was born January 11, 1954, in Lincoln, Nebraska to James LeRoy Love Sr. and Ella Stumphy Love. Jim proudly served on the USS Monticello LSD 35 and USS Sperry AS 12. He married his true love Brenda on November 4, 2011, in Durant, Oklahoma. He retired from L3 as an Electrical Engineer, Fellow Engineer and worked with other companies on several projects in the aerospace field to ensure our military men and women were able to protect our country. He was a dedicated family man that put others before himself, willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in the neighborhood, friend or stranger. By far his favorite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his adult children and Grand Children. He was always there for them, whether he was helping them prepare for a job interview, career advice or cheering for them at their baseball games. But most of all taking all the kids to military museums and baking those chocolate chip cookies.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Cunningham Love; his children, Kelly D. Love, James (Daniel) LeRoy Love III, Justin (Sarah) Love, Jeb Love, Shauna (Brandon) Dawson, Johnathon Jolley, Brothers and Sisters; Kelly (LeShara) D. Love and Albert (Deann) Love, Glen (Janeen) Cunningham, Colleen (Fred) Gaulden, Sherry (Bill) Hyman, and Deborah (Bill) Ruth, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in life by his beloved daughter Alizabeth (Alibuff) P. Love and Parents James LeRoy Love Sr. and Ella Orpha Stumphy Love.
A celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 10:00AM at the King’s Trail Cowboy Church in Whitewright, Texas.
