Jim passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be Friday August 13, 2021 at 10:00 am at the chapel of Coker Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday August 12, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. at the funeral home.
Born November 27, 1951 in Greenville, TX, he was the son of Marlene Stephens and Raymond Hamilton. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1970 and then attended East Texas State University where he was a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity. Jim graduated and began a career in microbiology with an emphasis in micro-filtration. Later in life he decided to return to his first passion that was teaching. Jim retired from Princeton ISD in 2020. Jim spent most of his free time either hunting or fishing and raising his horses. One of Jim’s favorite outings was going fishing with his children and grandchildren. Jim was always a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his mother, Marlene Stephens of Greenville, TX, father, Raymond Hamilton of Mesquite, TX, son and daughter-in-law, James and Heather Hamilton of Greenville, TX daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Kyle Smith of Greenville, Texas, grandchildren, Cayli and Trey Hamilton, brother and sister-in-law, Rocky and Mary Blackwell of Niceville, Florida, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Hamilton of Washington, brother and sister-in-law David and Christi Blackwell of Greenville, Texas along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends that were considered family.
He was predeceased in death by his wife, Frances Ann Hamilton, step father Fred Stephens, stepmother, Anna Hamilton, as well as uncle John and aunt Opal Cassidy.
Pallbearers will include, Terry Hatcher, James Green, Jamie Newkirk, Tommy Cross, David Cross, and Tim Morrison.
