James W. Rhodes, age 74, of Point, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 22, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 28th, at Clarks Chapel in Flats, Texas with Pastor Nathan Bounds officiating. Burial will be held at Lynch Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Walter Rhodes, Marshall Rhodes, James Rhodes, Scott Hughes, Jason Pelton, and Sammy Gowin. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the church.

 

James W. Rhodes was born on July 18, 1947, in Midland, Texas to the late Billie Louise and Walter Garland Rhodes. James lived in Colorado, Florida, Texas, and many other states. He married Mary Kathleen Hays on February 16, 2005, and they made their home in Point. James was a hardworking man and a jack of all trades. He owned several transport trucks and worked as a contract driver for Halliburton for 20 years where he was known as ‘Dusty’ by his work family. There was nothing that he couldn’t fix or make better by taking it apart. James was a truck driver, electrician, and an exceptionally talented diesel mechanic. He could listen to a vehicle and fix what was needed. He loved working and driving old cars and motorcycles. James was also very good at carpentry and build a new kitchen for his home.

 

He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Cathy Rhodes of Point; Sons, Marshall Rhodes and wife Calista and Walter Rhodes and wife Toni; Daughters, Teresa Dozier and husband Marvin and Shelly Hughes and husband Scott; Brother, Tommy Joe and wife Sandra; Sister, Billie Odaniel and husband Llyod, Grandchildren, Terica and husband Darius, James and wife Celina, Brittnee, Riley, Makenzie, Haylee and Payton and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
