Jeffrey (Jeff) Carey Durbin, age 63, of Quinlan joined his beloved, late wife, Jody, for an eternal date on May 28, 2021. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00P.M. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan.
Jeff was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 26, 1957, but was raised in Richardson, Texas where he attended Berkner High School. He was a father of five, a mechanic for over 40 years and the shop foreman of Advanced Starter Service in Irving from 1995 until his passing. Jeff loved the outdoors. His favorite hobbies were being on the lake in his boat fishing, flying/building RC planes and drones, and gardening. Jeff could grow anything, and if you ever got a chance to see his garden, which he was so proud of, his six-foot-tall elephant ears were something to behold. He truly had a green thumb. Jeff was also a die-hard Cowboys fan (no matter how many times they lost). Watching the games was a favorite pastime of him and his late wife. Years ago, he and Jody began feeding hummingbirds, setting up numerous feeders in their front yard, and they looked forward to their migration every year. The hummingbirds and his beloved dog, Daisy, helped him most following Jody’s passing in 2019.
Jeff was a master on the grill and an exceptional cook. He was a quiet man, but his love was poured into the food he prepared and served his friends and family. Everyone will miss his famous, homemade beef jerky. He was a simple man who preferred life in the country close to a lake with lots of outdoor space for his plants and enough room for his iguana aquarium (something his children have always known him to have). As long as he had his Miller High Life and some classic rock, he was golden. His family and friends will miss seeing him play air guitar, his laugh, his witty sense of humor, and that amazing head of hair (he was so proud to chop off his mullet and donate it to Locks of Love in 2014). He was a true hippie, and his children will never forget his famous greeting when he phoned: “Yooooo, this yo daddy!”
Jeff is preceded in death by his wife, Joellyn (Jody) Williamson Durbin; father, Robert (Bob) Durbin; and sister, Kimberly (Kim) Davis. He is survived by his five children: son, Brent Cotton; and daughters, Ambra Durbin, Samantha (Sam) Durbin, Jordin (Jo) Durbin, and Alyssa Cotton; mother, Marilyn Durbin; sisters, Debra (Debi) Durbin and Michelle Durbin; and brothers Thomas Durbin and William (Bill) Burton; and numerous grandchildren.
