Jerry Pannell Jr., 75, of Commerce, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Mt. Moriah Temple Baptist Church in Commerce, at 11 a.m.
Jerry, also known as “Tony” or “Turp”, was born in Commerce on April 8, 1949, to Jerry and Alva Lula Pannell. He is a 1967 graduate of the newly integrated Commerce High School and was a member of the 1964 State Champion Norris High School Basketball Team of Commerce.
Left to cherish “TP’s” memories are his second mother, Opal Pannell, of Commerce; daughters, Rolonda Henry (Tony), of Commerce; Roshunda Pannell, of Ft. Worth; Helen “Cheale” Pannell, of Ft. Worth; Layhanna Pearl (Darrione Rogers), of Belton, Mo.; Geri Adair, of Commerce; and son, Brandon Mapps, of Greenville. Special Sister/Cousin, Martha Annette Johnson, of Commerce. Grandchildren: Tony Henry II (Kara), of Commerce; Christian Henry, of Commerce; Khylaun Pearl, Dahmyien Rodgers, and Daelyn Rodgers, all of Belton, Mo.; Jayce Pannell, of Sulphur Springs; and Declan Adair, of Commerce. He is also survived by his three great-grandboys: Kaidyn Henry, Karter Henry, and Kinnan Henry, all of Commerce.
Mr. Pannell is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Sr. and Alva Lula Pannell; his sister, Seadell “Gloria” Lewis; and his baby sister; his son, LaRon Pannell; brother/cousin, Berry Wayne Pannell; and great-granddaughter, Kaislee Henry.
Pallbearers will include Clifton Blair, Willie Blow, Pat Hall, Charles Neal, Lawrence Neal, Perry Pannell, Dominic Turner, Harry Turner, and Medley Wilson.
