John August Miller, 91, of Farmersville, passed away on November 27, 2021, at his home. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 12:00 PM at St. Williams Catholic Church and a Rosary starting at 11:00 AM. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home oversaw arrangements.
Mr. Miller was born September 25, 1930, in Verona, Missouri to Richard Miller and Dorothy Gripka Miller. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He was raised on a farm, the second of twelve children. He married Sue Stewart on February 6, 1954, in Aurora, Missouri. John served as a corporal in the US Army before earning a degree in Physics at the Missouri School of Mines while starting his family. He worked as an Electrical Engineer, retiring from a long career from RCA, Honeywell, TI and Levi Strauss. He was an expert in the art of Bonsai Trees, serving for decades as a volunteer, board member, teacher and mentor in local and state bonsai societies. A member of St. Williams Catholic Church, his faith formed him throughout his life, leading him to give years of service to the Knights of Columbus and to his church. He loved instrumental music, especially fiddles, and passed that love on to his children. He will be missed by all those he taught and whose hearts he touched with his kindness, quick wit, sweet smile and friendship.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Sue Miller; sons, Mark Miller & wife Rhea, and John Robert Miller; daughters, Christy Silva & husband Luis, Susan Hughes widow of Gregg, Mariane Saathoff & husband Mark; brothers, Bob Miller, Laurence Miller, Jim Miller and Don Miller; sister, Dorothy Miller; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard & Dorothy, brothers Charles, Richard and Jerry, sisters Virginia, Shirley and Margie.
