Joyce Lee Stiles Hooe left this earth for her heavenly home on March 3, 2021. Joyce was born on May 27, 1937, to Harlan Lee Stiles and Jessie Bernice Stacey Stiles at home in Kiowa, Oklahoma. She attended Kiowa schools where she excelled in both academics and athletics. She married the love of her life, Cleveland Dennis Hooe, on June 27, 1953, in an intimate double wedding in the Kiowa Baptist Church. After living a short time in Oklahoma and several years in Fort Worth, Texas, Joyce and Cleve settled in Wolfe City, Texas where they raised their family. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, mema and friend. While she worked many years at Henington Publishing Company and Studio in Wolfe City, her primary “job” was homemaker and devoted mother. Joyce loved working in her yard, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a strong, independent and beautiful woman.
She leaves behind to sorely miss her: children Cleva Joyce Giddens and Rex, Dennis Lee Hooe and Sharon, and Nancy Marlene Eastwood and Larry; grandchildren Brandon Lee Hooe and Sherry, Dwayne Cleveland Hooe and Jessica, Emilee Rexann Giddens Wooten and Donnie, Clayton Daniel Giddens and Ashley, Kelly Amanda Giddens Storey and Tom, and Andrew Wyatt Eastwood and Celeste; great grandchildren Cyann McKenzie Hooe, Brendon Tyler Hooe, Bennett Rex Wooten, Marissa Dae Storey, Tyler Thomas Storey, and Seth Storey; sisters Deloras Campbell and Floyd, Donna Shannon and Bud, and Sherry Field and Terry; brother-in-law Paul Russell Hooe; sisters-in-law Jean Ann Loftin, and Margaret Jo Daniel and Billy; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, both her parents, brother Harlan Duane Stiles and his wife Mae, seven sisters-in-law, and eight brothers-in-law.
A graveside service for family and close friends is planned for March 9 at 2:00 pm at the Wardville Cemetery in Wardville, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Joyce’s grandsons Brandon Hooe, Dwayne Hooe, Clayton Giddens, Andrew Eastwood and Donnie Wooten. An informal viewing will be at Brown’s Funeral Home in Coalgate, Oklahoma on the morning of March 9.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Joyce’s name.
Lynch Funeral Home of Greenville, Texas and Brown’s Funeral Home of Coalgate, Oklahoma are in charge of arrangements.
