Joyce “Mamaw” Lewan (Scarbrough) Daugherty passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 30, 1940, in Greenville, Texas, Joyce lived a life full of love, creativity, and devotion to her family.
She was a dedicated Aircraft Upholsterer for 20 years, where her skill and precision made her an invaluable part of her team. Beyond her professional work, Joyce was a gifted seamstress and a talented artist who made beautiful ceramics and porcelain dolls. Her creative touch brought joy to those around her and left lasting impressions on her loved ones.
Joyce married the love of her life on September 28, 1956, and they spent nearly seven decades together building a home rooted in love and laughter. She cherished quiet days at home and especially enjoyed going garage selling with her sister—one of her favorite pastimes.
She is survived by her beloved husband and their three daughters: Cindy Rouser, Donna Gail Rose, and Debbie Dooley and husband Gary. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Jason Mark Rouser and Kelley, Jeremy Wayne Rouser and Brandi, Christopher Paul Rose and Amber, Crystal Cook and Artie, Jennifer Woods and Dylan, Robert Dooley and Kasey, Megan Begando and Ryan Begando. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Brantley Crouch, Hunter Rose, Ethan Cook, Ayden Cook, Deacon Cook, Beau Woods, Benji Woods, Kynsli Dooley, Lane Dooley, Wade Rouser, and Caleb Rouser.
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Paula Adamson and husband Tom, Carolyn Caldwell, Charles Scarbrough, and Judy Etheridge. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Kathleen Nowland and Richard Elmo Scarbrough; her brother Richard Scarbrough; sister Barbara Tipps; and her son-in-law Roy Rouser.
Joyce was deeply loved and will be remembered for her warmth, her creative spirit, and the way she made everyone feel at home. Her legacy is woven into the hearts of all who knew her.
