Karen Kay Mata, 54, of Commerce, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. She was born in Fayettville, Tennessee on September 7, 1965. Karen attended Garland High School. After obtaining her GED, she attended Texas A&M-Commerce for a few semesters. She had a special interest in technology. People would often bring their computers to her to be worked on. She also had a very good heart. She spent the last years of her life caring for Ruby, her friend and housemate.
Karen is survived by her mother, Sharon Walton and step-father, Charles Walton; daughter, Sonjia Mata; grandchildren, Hayli Woodson and Jaci Woodson; siblings, Pam Qualls, Sandy Wheatley and husband, Glen, Debra McCullar and husband, Tom, Donna Luera, Shannon Cooper and husband, John, Bree Burns and husband, Brandon and Charles Walton, Jr. and wife, Corina.
Karen was preceded in death by her son Scott Mata.
