Karen Sue Madewell went to our Lord on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Medical City of McKinney after a short battle with uterine cancer with her loving husband and daughter by her side.

Karen Sue Madewell was born to Delbert and Arvella Watson on March 19, 1957, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Karen married her school sweetheart Thomas Merle Sheppard on December 8, 1973. They had one daughter and one son together—Jody Sue born July 1, 1974, and David Kenneth born December 20, 1977. Karen graduated from East High School in Pueblo, Colorado, in 1975. Karen and Tom were Divorced in 1979.

On January 19, 1986, in Commerce, TX, at Bethel Baptist Mission she married Bobby Madewell. Bobby has two children from a previous marriage, Misty and Joshua. Karen and Bobby were inseparable, traveled often, and had many great adventures. Karen worked for various companies including Pizza Hut, SAS Shoes, and Dell Taco, before working for Walmart in Commerce where she retired after 19 years working as the Jewelry Department Manager.

Karen was an excellent caretaker and used her managerial skills to care for her aging parents and her husband, as she was always worried about their health and well-being. She loved to read and could be found often with a book in hand, and backup books in the car, bedside table, and end tables. She passed on the love of books to her daughter Jody, granddaughters Caitlin and Carrissa, and great-grandchildren Liam and Elizabeth.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Arvella Watson.
